In Maths we have been thinking about fractions including 1/4, 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 (a whole). It’s been a bit of a tricky concept, but I think we have grasped it! We have been quartering shapes and amounts and understood how to use 1/4 to find 2/4 and 3/4, etc.
In English we have been writing our final piece for our new farm story. I have LOVED reading the stories from the children. It’s lovely to see how much their imagination and story-writing flair has developed. They have all tried to hard and thought carefully about how to make the story more interesting by adding adjectives, adverbs, and similes. I’m so proud of them!
In R.E we are continuing to think about Christianity and churches. We designed our own church and included features like pews, a pulpit, and stain-glass windows. We are planning a visit to Ghyll Church on Tuesday 24th May so that we can see the features of a real-life church and understand what churches are used for.
We had lots of fun in P.E this week! Our topic is athletics so we set up different stations in the playground to practise athletic skills.
Achiever of the week!
Our achiever this week is Isaac Duffield for writing an outstanding animal story this week! We have been thinking about Farmer Duck and this week we wrote our new story. Isaac’s story blew me away! I was so impressed with the adjectives and similes he used, and he really took his time, concentrating on joined up handwriting. An example of one of Isaac’s superb sentences was: ” Jeremy was minding his own business when a monumental cloud, as dark as coal, hovered over his head…” Wow! You should be so proud of yourself Isaac.
